Where conveyors go wrong
Belt issues are the top call. Mistracking, uneven wear, dust escape from a bad scraper. The fault is usually in the tail pulley, a bent idler, or a piece of material wedged under the belt. Walk the conveyor with the belt running. Your eyes catch things that sensors miss.
- Belt wandering to one side: check pulley alignment first, idler alignment second.
- Unusual vibration: one bad idler out of fifty is often enough to cause it. Feel each one with the back of your hand at slow speed.
- Scraper blade worn: spillage piles up near the head pulley. Replace the blade on a schedule, not when you notice the pile.
- Drive pulley lagging peeling off: you will hear it before you see it. Shutdown call.
