TL;DR
Belt tracking problems start at the tail pulley. Adjust the tail pulley's take-up bolts to center the belt, making small incremental adjustments one side at a time.
What you might see
- belt drifting to one side
- belt rubbing against the frame
- uneven belt edge wear
- belt walking off the tail pulley
Likely causes
Tail pulley misaligned relative to the frame, pulling the belt toward the low side
Idler rollers out of square with the frame centerline
Off-center loading depositing product consistently on one side of the belt
Belt spliced with uneven tension across its width
Required tools
- Wrench set (tail pulley take-up nuts)
- Chalk line
- Tape measure
- LOTO kit
Safety first
- Lock out the drive before reaching under or across a running belt.
- Never attempt to push a tracking belt back by hand while the conveyor is running.
Procedure
- 1
Run the conveyor empty at normal speed and observe which side the belt tracks toward.
- 2
Stop the conveyor and lock out the drive motor.
- 3
Loosen the tail pulley take-up bolts by one-quarter turn on the side the belt is tracking toward. This shifts the tail pulley, advancing the lagging side.[1]
- 4
Run the conveyor for 2 minutes and observe the belt movement. Make adjustments in quarter-turn increments only.
- 5
Repeat until the belt runs centered. Total adjustment should rarely exceed 3 full turns from the starting position before investigating other causes.[1]
- 6
If the belt re-tracks after correction, walk the idlers. Snap a chalk line along the frame and check that each idler is square to the line within 1/16 inch.
- 7
Center the loading skirt to direct product onto the belt centerline if off-center loading is observed.

How to fix motor overheating on a Hytrol EZLogic conveyor
Motor overheating is usually a mechanical overload from seized rollers or excess belt tension. Walk the conveyor to find the drag source before suspecting the motor itself.
How to fix excessive vibration on a Hytrol EZLogic conveyor
Vibration on a belt conveyor is almost always an unbalanced or dirty roller or pulley. Walk the conveyor slowly to locate the vibration source, then clean or replace the offending component.
How to diagnose intermittent stops on a Hytrol EZLogic conveyor
Intermittent stops on EZLogic conveyors are most often a dirty or misaligned photoelectric zone sensor triggering a false jam signal. Clean the sensor lenses and verify alignment.
How to fix material spillage on a Hytrol EZLogic conveyor
Spillage at the loading zone means skirting is worn or the chute is offset. Check skirt-to-belt gap first: it should be under 3 mm. Off-tracking belt needs correction before new skirting will seal.
