Before you touch anything, pull the I/O map. Every input and output has a physical origin. An input that reads stuck-on usually has a shorted opto or a sensor that is always energized. EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, and Modbus TCP all work fine until they do not. A network error can look like a sensor fault, a controller fault, or a drive fault, because any of those things can be the device that dropped off the network. Before you swap the device, verify the link. Check the switch port. Check the cable. Check for a bad media converter. Half of network problems are physical layer.
